2019 Camry Hybrid

2019 Camry Hybrid

The Toyota Camry is one of the best-selling sedans in the US. You could say that it’s pretty much unbeatable. Now, Toyota has decided to up its game even further with the 2019 Camry Hybrid. So far, hybrid versions of existing sedans have always been a bit 'iffy'. But the 2019 Toyota Camry Hybrid seems to be the exception. In fact, it’s probably the best Camry you can put your money on. Its primary selling point is its fuel economy, which is what most would expect from a hybrid. It matches the 52 miles/gallon claim, which was once only unique to the Prius. It also delivers 208 horsepower, which is far more than what you get on the base Camry. So more power and more miles per gallon - that’s probably the best combination anyone can ever ask for.

If you want sportier looks to go with that extra power, all you have to do is get the SE trim. All Camry Hybrids come with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder unit that mates to an electric motor. The engine is reigned in by an electronically controlled CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) system. Now, as we stated earlier, the fuel economy offered by a Camry Hybrid is off the charts. However, there are slight variations to this that differ according to trim level and wheel/tire combinations. For instance, the LE trim comes with a lithium-ion battery pack and 16-inch wheels, which results in a fuel economy of 51 mpg in the city and 53 mpg on the high way.

The XLE and SE trim come with nickel-metal hydride battery packs and bigger 18-inch wheels. This leads to a slightly modest fuel economy of 44 mpg in the city and 46 mpg on the highway. However, that’s still more than most other hybrids on the road, making the Hybrid Camry a leader in this segment. Of course, that’s only as far as fuel efficiency is concerned.
